Conversations with Women Who Make a Difference
The Women’s Leadership Network (WLN) of United Way of the Capital Region held its second Conversations with Women Who Make a Difference event on October 31, 2007. WLN members enjoyed lunch at the Hilton in Harrisburg and learned how Major General Jessica Wright is making a difference in her community.
Major General Wright currently serves as the 50th Adjutant General of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, the first woman to serve in this position. She was initially appointed to this position by Governor Rendell in March of 2004, and is currently serving her second term under the Governor.
Major General Wright shared with WLN members and guests some general information about the Commonwealths’ National Guard, for which she is responsible for the command, control and supervision of all members. She also discussed some of her career highlights, including being the first woman to break down many barriers in the armed forces. WLN thanks Major General Wright for sharing her fascinating life story with us.
WLN will continue to host Conversations with Women Who Make a Difference throughout the year. These events are open only to WLN members, so if you didn’t sign up during your 2007 workplace campaign, contact Stacy Ebersole at United Way of the Capital Region, 732.0700, ext. 4048.
