Day of Caring Feedback
|
Here are just a few comments on what people think about United Way of the Capital Region’s Day of Caring! Our group had a wonderful day at the Harrisburg Boys & Girls Club. Since this was my first time volunteering at the DOC, I was amazed at how well our group worked together…we ended the day with each of us putting our names and handprints on the walls of the club. The organizers at the center wanted us to leave a special part of us behind and we were very touched and honored to do it. Ginny DeChristopher, KPMG Our group thoroughly enjoyed our experience [at the Weed and Seed Program] and were happy to be able to help with such an important program…Thanks for giving us this opportunity to help our community at large – we had a great time! Linda McClure, Penn State Harrisburg We had an AWESOME experience! Our site contacts were great [Hershey-Derry Township Historical Society]. They were involved, fun and informative. They made it an enjoyable time, but they also made sure we were productive and made an impact during our time there. I think we tend to surprise people by how much we can get done in such a short period of time. Thanks for sending us somewhere so interesting – we really enjoyed ourselves! Dawn Spahr, Metro Bank …we really enjoyed the time (cold and damp as it was) with the UCP clients on Friday. It warms your heart to see that just spending a little time with someone could create such big smiles. I can speak for our whole group in saying that we’re very happy that we had the opportunity to spend the day with this special group of people! I believe we all made special friends that day! Kristi Boyer, Drayer Physical Therapy Institute Thank YOU United Way of the Capital Region, PPL and UPS for a wonderful day at Camp Sertoma. Even in the rain, miracles happen! Barb Jumper, The Arc of Dauphin & Lebanon Counties …we had a wonderful group of workers for Day of Caring on Friday. I’m sorry that it turned out to be an ugly, wet day, but that did not stop our group from doing a 100% job. As always, it was a great day for our agency. Thank you for your ongoing support and all of the hard work you do! Lori Weitzman, Jewish Family Services of Greater Harrisburg …our organization had a significant day of service, despite the heavy rainfall, on Day of Caring. The folks from McKonly & Asbury worked in the rain and got trees down, stacked firewood in three locations while others of their team were making chili, burgers and chocolate chip cookies in the kitchen. The volunteers were soaked to the skin, but the outcome was a success for all concerned! Thanks for organizing this event and allowing our organization to be part of it. Barbara Bradshaw, National MS Society I wanted to let you know that the folks who worked with me on Friday from Penn State Harrisburg were tremendous! Because of the rain we did indoor painting and cleaning at Allison Hill Community Ministries. The group was hard working and a true blessing to us! Jason Rissler, Weed and Seed Program |
