Day of Caring, sponsored by PNC, is the largest one-day mobilization of volunteers in the Capital Region. Held each year on the Friday after Labor Day, Day of Caring brings together volunteers from local companies and non-profits that need help to complete projects which would otherwise go undone.

The Volunteer Center secures volunteers from local companies and projects from schools, parks, arts and cultural organizations, environmental groups, and health & human service agencies. The Center then matches the volunteers and projects for the day to perform a wide range of duties, including painting, landscaping, computer assistance, reading to children, organizing files, sorting donations and outdoor clean up.
