*United Way of the Capital Region changed its fiscal year end from March 31st to June 30th, and this change went into effect on June 30, 2023. The reason for this change was to better align our fiscal year with those agencies to which we provide funding, making this change more operationally efficient.

This fiscal year end change required United Way of the Capital Region to file two 990 tax returns for 2022. The first 990 return reflects the 12-month fiscal activity from April 1, 2022 to March 31, 2023. The second 990 return reflects the 3-month period from April 1, 2023 to June 30, 2023 and this return is labeled “Change of Accounting Period”. During this 3-month period, United Way did not begin a new fundraising campaign. Therefore, this short-period 990 return is not an adequate reflection of our normal fiscal activity. To properly compare United Way of the Capital Region’s financial results to prior results, we ask the reader to please refer to the 2022 12-month 990 tax return. Please note that the June 30, 2023 Audit Report reflects all 15 months of activity.
