More Than $8.8 Million Raised to Help Our Community

United Way Raises More Than $8.8 Million During 2022 Campaign

United Way of the Capital Region has raised $8,879,069 surpassing its goal of $8,810,000 to benefit the community. The announcement was made during our recent Celebration Reception sponsored by Delta Dental of Pennsylvania, Enterprise Rent-A-Car, LINKBANK, UPMC Central PA and the PA Media Group.

“We are grateful for the outstanding generosity from our community,” said 2022 Campaign Chair Anthony Worrall, president of Reynolds Restoration Services. “These resources will support United Way’s work to improve life in our community.”

United Way of the Capital Region empowers independence through its access to health care, basic needs, school readiness and workforce development initiatives. Last fall, we expanded our work around basic needs to better tackle the most pressing issues from the pandemic. United Way now supports services providing child care, information and referral services and language support in addition to food, housing, and utilities.

The Celebration Reception featured a local woman, Kim, who is excelling in the workplace thanks to United Way’s Road to Success initiative. This program helps people find and keep jobs with opportunities for advancement and provides support services like transportation and child care. See Kim’s story at vimeo.com/uwcr/road-to-success-22.

In addition, Worrall acknowledged the outstanding support of the Pillar Society, which consists of organizations contributing $100,000 or more to United Way. This year, the Pillar Society makes up 49% of the entire campaign. During the event, the campaign raffle prize winners were announced. Donors who gave $182 or more to United Way’s 2022 campaign were eligible to win one of four fantastic prizes.
