Bridges Society
United Way of the Capital Region’s Bridges Society connects a diverse group of leaders through giving and volunteering.
Events
Network with other leaders in our community, including members of our Tocqueville Society and Women’s Leadership Network (WLN), and learn how working together, we can build a stronger community.
Events in 2024-2025:
- Summer Social: Members gathered at Troëgs Independent Brewing to network and learn more about barriers to transportation that affect people in our workforce development program.
- Tip Off to Transportation: Held at the Cavoli Barn, members gathered to cheer on nine players who competed in a three-point contest. Members raised a remarkable $29,744 to purchase four cars for individual(s) in our Workforce Development program.
Volunteering
Volunteer with other members on projects that make a difference in the areas of access to health care, basic needs, school readiness and workforce development.
Projects in 2024-2025:
- United for Science: Bridges, WLN and Tocqueville members chaperoned third-graders from Thomas W. Holtzman, Jr. Elementary School and Foose Elementary School for a fun-filled field trip to the Whitaker Center for Science and the Arts.
- Youth Day of Caring: Members volunteered alongside local high school students to help clean up City Island in Harrisburg.
Giving
In 2024, 729 Bridges members contributed $1,939,239 to benefit our community through United Way.
How to Join
- Donate $500 or more to United Way of the Capital Region.
- Individuals age 22-30 can join Bridges by donating $250 to United Way’s Community Impact Fund.
- Check the Bridges Society box on your United Way print or online pledge form.
