Martin Luther King, Jr., Day Volunteer Event
Members of United Way of the Capital Region’s Women’s Leadership Network members and their children will spend Martin Luther King, Jr., Day giving back.
Volunteer Projects Include:
Winter Care Kits
Volunteers will assemble 300 winter care kits for children participating in “Operation Warm,” which is a partnership between United Way and Subaru. Children in our programs are invited to “shop” for new coats, hats, gloves, socks and shoes. Children will receive winter care kits during their shopping experience.
Shoebox Meal Kits
Volunteers will assemble 100 meal kits for families in crisis. Volunteers will decorate and assemble boxes with personalized note cards. All kits will go to families in United Way programs.
Emergency Period Kits
Volunteers will create 300 small bags that will include tampons, pads, flushable wipes, and more to be given to Susquehanna Township School District for students in need.
Personal Hygiene Kits
Volunteers will assemble 300 small bags with toiletry items for students at Harrisburg High School. Many students shower at school before their day begins.
