Women’s Leadership Network

United Way of the Capital Region’s Women’s Leadership Network (WLN) is an alliance of dynamic women who are changing our community through philanthropy and volunteerism.

Events

Network with other leaders in our community, including members of our Tocqueville Society and Bridges society, and learn how working together, we can build a stronger community.

Events in 2025-2026:

• Summer Social: Members gathered at Englewood Hershey to learn about the impact of our school readiness program from an education liaison and a local mother whose children participate in our program.
• Conversations With Women Who Make a Difference Event: Members and guests joined us at the West Shore Country Club for a discussion on “Caring for Ourselves and Our Community.” The event featured a distinguished panel of female leaders who discussed how we can best care for ourselves physically, mentally and emotionally while helping local women and children. At the event, WLN held a crowd-funding campaign and raised more than $8,000 for holiday meal gift boxes for 100 local families.

Volunteering

Members tackle projects focused on United Way’s work in access to health care, basic needs, school readiness and workforce development. All projects benefit local people in our programs.

Projects in 2025-2026:

• • UNITED FOR SCIENCE: Bridges, WLN and Tocqueville members chaperoned third-graders from Foose Elementary School in Harrisburg and Newport Elementary School for a fun-filled field trip to the Whitaker Center for Science and the Arts.
  • Martin Luther King, Jr., Day: Members and their children assembled kits with much-needed supplies for children and families in United Way programs.

Giving

In 2025, 633 WLN members contributed $2,477,539 to benefit our community through United Way.
