Every community needs a support system for individuals and families to turn to in urgent and crisis situations. United Way of the Capital Region supports programs and services to help vulnerable individuals and families.


Providing Help When its Needed Most

Our basic needs support programs cover:

  • Food insecurity
  • Domestic violence shelters and legal assistance
  • Homeless shelters and transitional housing
  • Emergency services including food, clothing and shelter following a disaster; help with heating and utility bills, rent, medications, and transportation to help individuals get and stay employed
  • Information, referrals and case management
655,525 Meals

provided to individuals in need. This is double the amount provided in 2019.

1,206 Individuals

received emergency shelter and help to secure transitional housing.

8,156 People

received help with medications, food, transportation, and rent to avoid eviction.
