School Readiness
Is Your Child Ready for School and Ready to Succeed?
United Way of the Capital Region’s School Readiness program (Ready for School, Ready to Succeed) helps prepare kids to enter school ready to succeed and read proficiently by 3rd grade. Through this program, children ages 3 to 5 (and their families) can attend free virtual and in-person workshops to help prepare for kindergarten. We currently partner with 12 school districts which include 20 elementary schools in Dauphin, Cumberland and Perry counties. This program is available to ALL families.
The program also helps connect families to:
- Affordable preschool programs (if available).
- Early intervention support through the Capital Area Intermediate Unit.
- Transportation and translation services.
- Basic needs services like food, clothing and shelter.
