Volunteers and Students Have Fun Learning at the Whitaker Center
Volunteers and Local Students Have a Fun-Filled Day at the Whitaker Center
On November 12, 13, 14 and 15, more than 100 volunteers from United Way of the Capital Region’s Bridges Society, Women’s Leadership Network and Tocqueville Society chaperoned more than 300 students from Foose and Thomas Holtzman elementary schools for field trips to the Whitaker Center for Science and the Arts in Harrisburg. UNITED FOR SCIENCE, powered by PNC, provided students an opportunity to experience the PNC Innovation Zone, Science Center and participate in a STEM activity while connecting with their chaperones.
For some of these third-grade students, this was their first time at the museum. The students and volunteers had an amazing time together. Volunteer opportunities like this are one of the many benefits United Way offers to enrich the experience of our donors. Many thanks to PNC for making this event possible as well as Penn National Insurance for providing free parking in their garage.
