A Day of Impact: Women’s Leadership Network Holds MLK Day Volunteer Event

On Monday, January 19, United Way of the Capital Region’s Women’s Leadership Network (WLN) held its 11th Annual Martin Luther King, Jr., Day Volunteer Event at Susquehanna Township High School.

More than 110 women, children and partners participated in this popular event.

Working together, they created:

  • 361 “bookworm buddies” for young readers in our School Readiness program.
  • 600 emergency period kits for students at Susquehanna Township Middle and High Schools, Steelton-Highspire High School, and Susquenita High School
  • 750 dental kits for local students and families.
  • 150 shoebox meal kits for families in crisis. The meal kits will go to families involved in United Way’s programs.
