More Than $8.9 Million Raised to Help Our Community
United Way Raises More Than $8.9 Million During 2023 Campaign
United Way of the Capital Region has raised $8,901,683 surpassing its goal of $8,710,000 to benefit the community. United Way made the announcement at its recent Celebration Reception held at Hershey’s Chocolate World. The Hershey Company served as the lead sponsor. Additional sponsors included Delta Dental of Pennsylvania, JP Lilley, McNees Wallace & Nurick LLC, PA American Water, UPMC Central PA and Weis Markets.
“We are grateful for the outstanding generosity from local businesses and individuals,” said 2023 Campaign Chair Brian Jackson, chairman of McNees Wallace & Nurick LLC. “These resources will support United Way’s work to improve life in our community.”
United Way of the Capital Region empowers independence through its access to health care, basic needs, school readiness and workforce development initiatives. Its programs demonstrate tangible results of lives changed through its important work.
At the event, Dr. Nirmal Joshi, president and founder of the Joshi Health Clinic spoke about United Way’s Contact to Care initiative and the life-saving work taking place at free health clinics in our region. Contact to Care helps increase access to health care by helping people navigate the health care system and find a primary medical home. This includes helping to support five free health clinics, which includes the Joshi Health Clinic.
In addition, Jackson acknowledged the outstanding support of the Pillar Society, which consists of organizations contributing $100,000 or more to United Way. This year, the Pillar Society makes up 48% of the entire campaign.
